Outward Hound DayPak Saddleback Large Backpack – Green
Some dogs enjoy a relaxed stroll. Others walk like they’re leading an expedition.
The Outward Hound DayPak Saddleback Large Backpack – Green is designed
for big, active dogs who thrive when they have a job to do and space to do it properly.
Built for larger breeds with stronger frames, this backpack allows your dog to carry
their own essentials comfortably while turning everyday walks into purposeful outings.
The saddleback-style design distributes weight evenly across your dog’s body,
helping maintain balance and stability even when the pockets are in use.
This matters especially for large dogs, who often move with power and confidence
and need gear that works with their stride, not against it.
The bold green colour adds visibility outdoors while still looking practical
and adventure-ready.
Designed for longer walks, hikes, and outdoor exploration,
the DayPak Saddleback Large features four expandable side pockets.
These provide generous space for water, collapsible bowls,
treats, waste bags, or small essentials without overloading your dog.
The lightweight construction keeps things breathable and manageable,
even when the pace picks up or the terrain changes.
Reflective accents help improve visibility in low-light conditions,
while the sturdy top handle allows for quick control when navigating
obstacles, rest stops, or moments when your dog decides a squirrel
deserves further investigation.
A built-in D-ring leash attachment offers flexibility when switching
between leash setups.
This official Outward Hound video shows the DayPak Saddleback in action,
highlighting how the backpack fits, moves, and performs during real-world
adventures with active dogs.
Key Features
- Saddleback-style design: Promotes even weight distribution and balance
- Four expandable pockets: Plenty of room for water, treats, and essentials
- Lightweight construction: Comfortable for extended wear
- Reflective accents: Increased visibility during early morning or evening walks
- Top grab handle: Quick control in tight or busy environments
- D-ring leash attachment: Easy transitions between walking setups
These features work together to support safe, comfortable adventures
without unnecessary complexity — practical gear that does its job
while letting your dog enjoy the journey.
Comfort & Fit
The Large DayPak Saddleback is specifically designed for bigger dogs,
offering adjustable straps that allow you to fine-tune the fit
across the chest and torso. When properly adjusted, the backpack
sits securely without shifting or bouncing, even during steady movement.
Breathable mesh panels promote airflow, helping reduce heat buildup
during longer walks or hikes. This is especially important for large,
active dogs who generate more body heat and benefit from gear that
stays breathable and light.
If your dog is new to wearing a backpack, start with empty pockets
and short outings. Gradually introduce light items as your dog adjusts.
Keeping loads balanced and light helps ensure comfort and confidence
from the very first adventure.
Use & Adventure Tips
The Outward Hound DayPak Saddleback Large Backpack is ideal for hiking,
trail walks, travel days, and longer outdoor excursions where carrying
a few essentials makes a difference.
Many dogs walk with more focus and engagement when they have a small task —
especially when snacks are part of the mission.
- Keep weight evenly distributed between both sides
- Avoid overloading — lighter items work best
- Check strap adjustments during longer outings
- Remove the backpack during extended rest breaks
When used correctly, the Outward Hound DayPak Saddleback Large Backpack – Green helps transform
ordinary walks into shared adventures, encouraging movement, exploration,
and quality outdoor time. It’s a simple way to give active dogs a sense
of purpose while making outings more enjoyable for everyone involved.
